The song, which also features TMan Xpress and Lee McKrazy, took home three awards: Best Music Video, Best Amapiano Song, and Best Collaboration. M-Touch, whose real name is Bulelwa Tibane, says he was hopeful for one win—but never imagined a clean sweep.
“I expected maybe one award, but getting three was just amazing,” he shared with IOL Entertainment.
“Kwelanga 2.0” was recorded in late 2023, after producer Thulani Way brought M-Touch and Ranger together with Bassie in studio. From the moment the recording wrapped, M-Touch had a good feeling.
“Once Bassie was done, I kept replaying it—I just knew it had hit potential.”
His instincts proved right. The track quickly gained traction online and became a viral TikTok sensation, with countless users featuring it in their content.
“I opened TikTok and saw ‘Kwelanga’ everywhere. I called Ranger right away and said, ‘I think we’ve made something huge.’”
Now 26, M-Touch is preparing to celebrate his 27th birthday in June. A native of Pretoria, he began his musical journey after matriculating in 2016, studying sound engineering at Boston College for two years. While he originally had a passion for drama in high school, it was music that ultimately captured his focus.
The name M-Touch came from his high school nickname, “M’fana Touchline,” which he later shortened when choosing a professional alias.
With the success of “Kwelanga 2.0,” M-Touch has firmly positioned himself as a standout voice in the amapiano scene, with more big moments likely ahead.
