Naledi Aphiwe Continues Her Rise in the Music Industry with Major Collaborations and Award Nominations

Naledi Aphiwe, the rising South African vocalist who gained widespread attention after being featured on Chris Brown’s song “Shooter”, is steadily carving her path in the music world with a string of impressive collaborations and growing recognition.

The 18-year-old songstress recently teamed up with legendary rapper K.O on the track “Thokoza”, featured on his latest album Phara City. Speaking to Independent Media Lifestyle, Naledi expressed gratitude for the opportunity:

“I want to start by saying ‘thank you’ to K.O for the opportunity. I’m so privileged to have worked with him. It was actually a great experience to be with him in the studio, and I’ve learned a couple of things.”

She further described the studio experience as educational and uplifting, praising K.O for the lessons he shared about the music industry. Naledi also revealed that working with other big names like 25K and Emtee was a dream come true:

“Growing up, I listened to these artists, and now I’m working with them. I’m a big fan.”

On the Phara City album itself, Aphiwe called it a standout project, noting “Phara Love” and her own collaboration “Thokoza” as her personal favorites.

Naledi’s momentum doesn’t stop there—she’s recently collaborated with local stars Blxckie, Cici, and Mawelele, further solidifying her presence in South Africa’s Afropop and hip-hop scenes.

While her music career is flourishing, public interest has also turned to her personal life—particularly her rumored romantic relationship with collaborator Mawelele. Though the pair never officially confirmed a relationship, their chemistry and joint appearances fueled speculation.

In May, Aphiwe shared a TikTok post with a cryptic caption that sparked breakup rumors. Still, when asked whether the drama was genuine or part of a publicity strategy, Aphiwe neither confirmed nor denied:

She teased that new music is still coming from the two of them as a duo, hinting that whatever their personal situation may be, the professional partnership is ongoing.

Despite the tabloid interest, Naledi remains focused on her craft. The “Waiting For You” singer has just received two nominations at the 2025 Basadi in Music Awards:

  • Music Video of the Year
  • Afropop Artist of the Year

With major collaborations, award recognition, and a growing fanbase, Naledi Aphiwe is proving to be one of South Africa’s most promising young talents—balancing fame, artistry, and ambition with grace and confidence.
